Cookie policy
Two entries, both first-party, neither of them advertising. This page lists them by name so you can check for yourself rather than take our word for it
01What a cookie is, in one paragraph
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep, so that it can recognise the same browser on the next page or the next visit. Similar technologies such as local storage do the same job by other means, and everything below applies to them equally
Cookies are not the problem people take them to be. Tracking is. This site uses the first and not the second
02What this site actually stores
Two entries, and here they are in full
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
salveda_ck | Remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner, so that we stop asking | Strictly necessary | 12 months | salveda.eu, first party |
salveda_vc | Counts a visit to a page in aggregate, with no identifier that could single you out | Analytics | 14 months | salveda.eu, first party |
Both are first-party, which means they are set by this site and readable by nobody else. The strictly necessary one does not require consent, because without it the banner would ask you the same question on every page. The analytics one runs only if you accepted it
03What this site does not store
- No advertising cookies, and no advertising network is present on this site
- No third-party trackers, no pixels, no social network buttons that phone home
- No cross-site or cross-device identifiers, and no fingerprinting
- No profiles, and nothing that would let anyone sell your interests
The calculators on this site run entirely inside your browser. The parameters you move on the home page and elsewhere are never sent anywhere, are not stored, and disappear when you close the tab
04Your choice, and how to change it
On your first visit the banner offers two options. Accept switches the visit counter on. Essential only leaves it off, and the site works exactly the same either way
To change your mind later, clear this site's cookies in your browser and reload the page: the banner appears again and your new choice replaces the old one. We do not treat silence as consent, and we do not make the refusal button harder to find than the acceptance button
05Controlling cookies in your browser
Every current browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them in advance. The settings sit under privacy in each of them
- Chrome and Edge: settings, privacy and security, third-party cookies and site data
- Safari: settings, privacy, manage website data
- Firefox: settings, privacy and security, cookies and site data
Blocking the strictly necessary entry will not break this site, it will simply make the banner ask again on every visit
06Third parties and embedded content
This site loads a web font from Google Fonts so that the typography is the same on every device. That request reaches Google's servers and carries your internet address, as any request for a file does, and no cookie is set by it
We embed no video players, no maps, no chat widgets and no social feeds, because each of them would bring its own tracking with it. Links to LinkedIn are ordinary links: nothing loads from that network until you choose to click
07Changes to this policy
If we ever add a cookie, this table gains a row and the date at the top moves before the cookie is set rather than after. A new category of cookie means the banner asks you again
Questions about anything here go to hello@salveda.eu, and the wider picture is in the privacy policy
