Terms of use
What this site is, what its demonstrations are not, and where responsibility for a shelf life actually sits. Short, and without the fog
01What these terms cover
These terms govern your use of the SALVEDA website. By browsing it you accept them, and if you do not accept them the remedy is simple: stop reading and close the tab
Use of the platform itself is governed by a separate written contract between SALVEDA and your organisation. Where that contract and these terms disagree about the platform, the contract wins
02What this site is
This site presents SALVEDA, the problem it addresses and the product it offers. The material on it is informational. It describes a method, it does not perform a service, and reading it creates no relationship between us beyond the one you choose to start by writing
We try to keep every figure and every reference to regulation accurate and current. Law changes, guidance is amended, and a page may lag behind by days. Nothing here is a substitute for the text of the regulation itself or for advice on your specific product
03The calculators and demonstrations
Several pages carry working demonstrations: a shelf-life calculation, a validation chart, a cold chain simulation, a tariff estimate. They run on published scientific models and open parameters, and they exist so that you can see the logic of the product rather than read a description of it
A demonstration is not a regulatory justification. It does not replace a shelf-life study, it is not signed by anyone, and it must not be used as the basis of a decision about a real product placed on a real market. A justification is issued only from the workstation, on your own recipe and process data, and under the signature of a qualified specialist
The figures a demonstration produces depend entirely on the parameters you type into it. Nothing is validated against your product, your process or your cold chain, and no confidence interval shown there has been calibrated for the food you make
04Who is responsible for what
The food business operator is responsible for the safety of its products and for the shelf life printed on the pack. That responsibility is imposed by law and cannot be moved onto a supplier, a calculation or a piece of software
SALVEDA supplies calculation, methodology and documentation. Where we issue a justification dossier, a named specialist signs it and stands behind the conclusion it contains, within the limits written into that dossier and into the contract. That is the extent of what we take on, and we state it plainly rather than burying it
05Acceptable use
You may read this site, quote it with a reference to the source, print it and share the link. You may not
- Copy substantial parts of it into another site or document as though they were yours
- Extract content in bulk by automated means, or use it to train a model without our written agreement
- Attempt to gain access to systems or data that are not offered to you
- Interfere with the availability of the site for anyone else
- Send us, through a form, anything unlawful, anything belonging to someone else, or a file intended to do harm
What you write to us is yours. By sending it you allow us to read it, answer it and keep it for the period set out in the privacy policy, and nothing more
06Intellectual property
The texts, the diagrams, the interactive demonstrations, the underlying models as we have implemented them, the name SALVEDA and the visual identity belong to SALVEDA or are used with permission. The matrix correction layer and the calibration protocol are protected as trade secrets
Quoting a passage with a link to the page it came from is welcome and needs no permission. Reproducing whole sections, or presenting our material as your own, is not covered by that welcome
Third-party names, standards and regulations are referred to for identification only, and their mention implies no endorsement in either direction
07Availability and changes
We would like this site to be available at all times and we cannot promise it. Maintenance, a provider's failure or something neither of us foresaw may interrupt it, and we owe you nothing for the interruption
We may change, move or withdraw any part of the site without notice. These terms may change too: the version in force is the one published here, with its date at the top, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version
08Limits of liability
The site and its demonstrations are provided as they are. To the extent the law permits, we exclude liability for loss arising from reliance on the informational content of this site, including decisions about a shelf life taken without a proper justification
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded: fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any right that consumer protection law gives you and does not allow us to take away
Liability arising from the platform is dealt with in the contract for the platform, which contains its own limits, its own remedies and the professional insurance that sits behind them
09Links to other sites
Where we link to a regulation, a standard, a laboratory or an article, we link to it because it is useful. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data, and a link is not an endorsement of everything else on the destination
10Applicable law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes go before the courts of the city of Barcelona, unless a mandatory rule of consumer protection gives you the right to bring the matter before the courts of the place where you live
If any provision here is held to be invalid, the rest stands and the invalid part is read down to the narrowest reading that is lawful
11How to reach us
Questions about these terms, notices, and anything that ought to be said to a person rather than shouted at a website go to hello@salveda.eu. The company is established in Barcelona, Catalonia, and registration details are supplied on request
The related documents are the privacy policy and the cookie policy, and the three are meant to be read together
